About Us

volunteer@democracynowMICHIGAN.org

This free website is the combined effort of a handful of Michigan residents who hope to create greater statewide interest in the national, daily, independent, award-winning news program "Democracy NOW!".

Democracy NOW! provides access to people and perspectives rarely heard in the U.S.corporate-sponsored media, including independent and international journalists, ordinary people from around the world who are directly affected by U.S. foreign policy, grassroots leaders and peace activists, artists, academics, independent analysts, union rank-and-file, and civil rights activists.

It is hoped that by using this website, other Michigan Democracy NOW! organizers will be able to coordinate their efforts, exchange ideas, and provide local Michigan residents with specific resources so that Democracy NOW! might be more easily brought to a greater number of Michigan's communities.

It is hoped that by bringing Democracy NOW! to a greater number of Michigan's communities, more Michigan residents will appreciate the true value of independent media and become more actively involved in their own local community media.

was so glad to find out about this site. i just wrote to kevin fuchs (see the may 2005 letter posted under the MI Public Radio smiley face) and he said he's moved to indiana but good luck.

very interested in making contact with others and starting a concentrated letter-writing campaign that anticipates their spring fundraising drive: for example, if 1000 people around michigan promise to become members if DN starts airing daily.

i'll write to michael mcgillvary in a moment, but wanted first to coordinate around the state. todd mundt's letter makes it sound like we would need not only big numbers but a bigger range of people.

thanks for your work on this.
